Find great new work in great New York.

New York is the most diverse and populous state in the Northeast. From the Great Lakes, Niagara Falls and Buffalo in the west to the Adirondack Mountains and college-town atmosphere of central and upstate New York to the excitement of the Big Apple, New York offers something for everyone. Four distinct seasons lend themselves to a variety of outdoor recreation, from golfing to skiing. Also in New York are some of the country’s best colleges and universities, including Columbia, NYU, Cornell and Barnard, the most selective of all women’s colleges.

Albany

Albany, the state capital of New York, is a midsize city along the Hudson River that offers the benefits of a big city, such as an array of restaurants and performing arts. With more than 60 public parks and recreation areas, Albany also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking and biking. Every year to mark the beginning of spring, Albany hosts the beautiful Tulip Festival, which is attended by over 80,000 people.

Buffalo

More than snowfall and chicken wings, this hardy and hearty city on Lake Erie offers many recreational and cultural attractions, plus all sorts of shopping, dining and nightlife; two pro sports teams; nearby Niagara Falls; and affordable home prices.

Central New York

“Beautiful from beginning to end” is how a young Englishwoman described Oneida County in Central New York as she traveled down the Erie Canal in 1832. Central New York is home to exciting attractions, college towns, world-class museums and bountiful shopping opportunities.

Middletown

Lying in New York’s Hudson Valley region is Middletown, a beautiful, quaint city with a nice downtown area filled with a variety of ethnic eateries and small shops. The city also has many recreational and cultural activities, from Highland Lakes State Park to the historic Paramount Theatre.

North Country

North Country is generally known to be the area of northern Upstate New York that lies outside the Adirondack Park and is the largest region in the state. With its close proximity to the Adirondack Mountains and Whiteface Mountain, the area is perfect for winter skiing, biking and even world-class fishing. The region encompasses several small cities, including Plattsburgh, Potsdam and Watertown, and has several universities. There’s never a shortage of family activities, from the New York State Zoo to weekly farmers markets.

Syracuse

The fifth-largest city in New York, Syracuse is a happy medium for those seeking big-city amenities with a small-town feel. Great restaurants, museums, performing arts, a major university and year-round sporting events provide ample entertainment, while the rolling hills and many lakes combine to offer spectacular scenery.

Rochester

You wouldn’t expect a city known for snowy winters to be called the Flower City. Yet, Rochester blossoms – literally and figuratively. Residents enjoy the annual Lilac festival and other events, scenic parks and recreation centers, museums and theaters, and plenty of restaurants and night clubs. What was once known as a manufacturing town, Rochester is now an international center for higher education as well as medical and technological development. In 2012, Kiplinger rated Rochester as the 5th best city for families, citing its low cost of living, top public schools and low jobless rate.
