More than 600 Veterans Receive Free Care on the MouthMobile in 2018

More than 600 veterans received much-needed dental care at no cost thanks to the efforts of Aspen Dental volunteers who worked on the MouthMobile throughout 2018.

The MouthMobile is a 42-foot-long dental office on wheels that travels the country, where Aspen Dental team members provide free dental care to our nation’s veterans. This year the MouthMobile visited 28 communities, from Portland, OR to Portland, ME.

Aspen Dental volunteers donated more than $283,000 in dentistry throughout the 28 stops. Dental services such as extractions, cleanings and denture repairs were offered to veterans to ensure their most immediate dental needs were treated.

The 2018 tour also marked the MouthMobile’s fifth consecutive year on the road since its inception in 2014. The vehicle hit 100,000 miles in October.

In November, the MouthMobile made a special stop in Phoenix, AZ where 28 dental students and four faculty members from the College of Dental Medicine – Arizona – Midwestern University partnered with Drs. David Sung and Sumir Mathur to provide free care to local veterans on the MouthMobile and in the Aspen Dental office in Glendale, AZ. The team of volunteers treated 34 veterans, donating more than $20,000 in dentistry.

Aspen Dental’s commitment to veterans is also front-and-center on its annual Day of Service. On that day, hundreds of Aspen Dental-branded practices nationwide open their doors exclusively to veterans and take care of their most urgent dental needs for free.

These programs and others are part of Aspen Dental’s Healthy Mouth Movement. Since 2014, Aspen Dental volunteers have donated more than $13 million in dentistry to more than 20,000 veterans and people in need.
