Quality Engineer & Quality Assurance Analyst II

In this role, the successful candidate will serve as a technical leader in support of the testing of project applications, including (but not limited to): functional, integration, regression, user acceptance and some automation testing. This position requires the ability to follow an overall testing strategy and contribute to Aspen’s quality assurance standards. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Works closely with the QA Manager to ensure that a solid test plan is developed for every major project
  • Provides recommendations to project teams for appropriate test strategies to ensure that project deliverables meet ADMI quality standards
  • Works closely with test automation development personnel to identify key opportunities where automated testing will add value to a project (functional or performance testing)
  • Creating functional test cases, based on a documented set of detailed business and/or technical requirements
  • Participation in test case reviews with the business systems analyst and/or developer
  • Ensures test environment reflects business requirements for test execution
  • Creating accurate and informative defect reports using the IT defect management tool
  • Executing of functional test cases and/or automated test scripts for assigned projects
  • Execution of other forms of system testing including integration, regression, usability, UAT, and automation/performance testing
  • Analysis and reporting of overall test status and results
  • Validating that all written documentation for assignments are complete and accurate
  • Manage the overall delivery of the project team and project /production support and ensure adherence to quality and schedules
  • Monitor compliance with all policies, procedures, and tasks as well as interface with all other internal teams regarding procedural compliance
  • Communicate issues to appropriate development staff and assist in their resolution
  • Collaborating with other IT and ADMI teams in support of the timely resolution of defects
  • Provides technical leadership and recommendations for improving QE/QA processes, upgrading QE/QA tools, and keeping up with QA industry best practices
  • Periodically reviews test cases created by junior level QE/QA Analysts to ensure correctness and consistency with ADMI quality standards
  • Mentor, train, motivate and oversee staff performance; including coaching when needed
  • Other responsibilities as directed by IT management

Minimum Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering, business, math or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years direct work experience testing web-based software applications
  • 4+ years of experience writing software test automation
  • 2+ years of experience writing Selenium (Java)
  • Experience with Selenium, JMeter, Cucumber, Appium, TestNG, and other automation frameworks
  • Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Strong understanding of QA testing techniques and functional test case development
  • Excellent understanding of software development methodologies including agile, waterfall, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and an attention to detail are a must
  • Ability to meet project deadlines while working independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, applications, tools, etc. is required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a must
  • Ability to create simple to complex Microsoft SQL queries is required
  • Mobile application testing experience is a plus
  • Experience with projects associated with the Clinical or Healthcare field is desired
  • Advanced degree and/or relevant certifications are a plus
